Why Metagenics — and How to Set Up Your Account
Joyce Strong — Metagenics Practitioner Store — jstrong.metagenics.com
If you’re going to spend money on supplements, I want you to know what you’re buying, why you’re buying it, and where it comes from.
There is no shortage of supplements in the world.
You can buy them at the grocery store, pharmacy, warehouse club, online marketplace, social media shop or from an influencer who discovered magnesium last Tuesday and now apparently has a degree in biochemistry.
The problem is not access. The problem is figuring out what is worth buying.
That is why I use Metagenics and why I make their products available through my practitioner store at JStrong.Metagenics.com.
I am not interested in filling your kitchen cabinet with supplements. I am interested in helping you make better decisions about the ones you actually have a reason to take.
Why I chose Metagenics
Metagenics has worked with healthcare professionals for decades and has long emphasized professional formulations, quality control and product testing.
What matters to me is not simply the name on the bottle. I want to know about formulation, ingredient quality, potency, testing and whether the form of a nutrient actually makes sense.
No supplement company deserves blind trust. But when I recommend a product, I want to start with a company that takes formulation, testing and professional accountability seriously.
“Professional quality” should mean more than a nicer label
Almost any supplement company can make a bottle look scientific. What matters is what is inside it.
When I evaluate a supplement, I want to know the form of the nutrient, the amount provided, how well that form is absorbed, whether the dose makes sense, what else is in the formula and whether there is reasonable evidence supporting its use.
For example, “magnesium” by itself tells me very little. Magnesium oxide, citrate and glycinate are not interchangeable simply because the word magnesium appears on the front of each bottle.
The same is true of probiotics. Strains matter. Fish oil is not simply “fish oil”; EPA and DHA amounts matter. Vitamin D dosage matters. Iron is not something everyone should take simply because they feel tired.
The label is the beginning of the conversation, not the end.
The practitioner relationship is the real reason to use my store
You can now buy Metagenics products directly as a consumer, so why create an account through JStrong.Metagenics.com?
Because you are not just getting access to a supplement catalog.
You are connecting with me as your Metagenics practitioner.
That means when you are confused about which product makes sense, which form to choose, whether two products overlap or what questions you should be asking before adding something new, you can reach out to me.
I am available to help you think through your choices one on one.
That does not mean I am replacing your physician or pharmacist, and there will be situations where I will tell you that a question needs to go back to them. Medications, medical conditions, laboratory findings and individual health history can all change the answer.
But you do not have to stand in front of a wall of supplements trying to figure everything out by yourself.
And there is no separate fee for the supplement guidance I provide through this practitioner relationship.
Why not just search Amazon?
Because knowing that you want “magnesium” or “fish oil” is not necessarily enough information to choose a good product.
When I write about magnesium, omega-3s, vitamin D, probiotics or another nutritional issue on TotalWellCoach, my practitioner store gives you a direct place to find the professional products I am discussing.
That saves you from reading an article about magnesium glycinate and then searching through hundreds of unrelated products trying to decide which one resembles what I was talking about.
It also gives us a common starting point. If you ask me about a product in the store, I know exactly what formulation and dose you are looking at.
How to create your Metagenics account
Getting started is simple.
Go to JStrong.Metagenics.com and choose Create an Account. Enter your email address and create your login. Once your account is confirmed, you will be able to browse products, manage your account and order when you are ready.
If you already have a Metagenics account you can call them and ask to have me added as your practitioner.
You do not have to buy anything simply because you create an account.
Set it up. Look around. Bookmark it.
Then if you see something you are considering and aren't sure whether it is appropriate, ask me before you buy it.
I would much rather help you make a good decision before the bottle arrives than explain afterward why you may not have needed it.
What should you buy first?
Maybe nothing.
That is not a very glamorous answer from someone who has a supplement store, but it is the right one.
Start with what you already take. Why are you taking it? Who recommended it? What dose are you using? Are you getting the same nutrient from several products without realizing it? Have you been taking something for years simply because nobody ever told you to reassess it?
Those questions often matter more than finding the newest supplement.
If there is a nutritional deficiency, dietary gap, documented need or another reasonable reason to supplement, then we can start asking the next questions: Which nutrient? Which form? How much? When? For how long?
That is where a professional-quality product — and professional guidance — become useful.
Supplements should support a plan, not become the plan
Supplements are exactly what the name says they are.
They supplement food, sleep, movement, medical care and the other things that determine health. They are not substitutes for them.
Sometimes supplementation is extremely useful. Sometimes lab testing changes the answer. Sometimes medications change the answer. Sometimes the smartest recommendation I can make is don't buy anything yet.
That is the relationship I want you to have with TotalWellCoach and my Metagenics store.
Test when useful. Supplement with a purpose. Reassess over time.
If you would like access to the Metagenics products I use and recommend — and the ability to ask me for help choosing among them — create your account at JStrong.Metagenics.com.
You don't have to buy anything today.
Just give yourself a better place to start.
